Crystal clear daiginjo in a glass container with an elegant curve.
In it, float pieces of cherry blossom-shaped gold leaf…
The Daiginzo Tokusei Gold Kamotsuru with pure gold leaf (later renamed Daiginjo Tokusei Gold Kamotsuru), overturning the image of traditional Japanese sake was released in 1958, two years before Prime Minister Hayato Ikeda announced his plan to double the people’s income. While Japan was brimming with rapid economic growth, we proposed a new way to enjoy Japanese sake. As life became more affluent, we offered those who were looking for an even further step of richness a type of sake that was “one step higher” both in quality and looks. This was well received and remains a long seller today.
From around 1965 it started becoming a favorite in various restaurant including Ginza’s well-known Sukiyabashi Jiro’s.
